HECO-TOPIX screws in use

HECO-TOPIX screws assessed by TRADA
Published:  25 June, 2010

TRADA Technology has assessed the HECO-TOPIX range of structural timber screws to BS EN-14592:2008 to comply with NHBC and building regulations requirements for timber and glulam.

The German-made product, stocked by Aptus Fastener Systems in the UK, has been used in several high profile projects, including the Olympic Velodrome, but Aptus wanted an independent “seal of approval”.

The range is designed to require virtually no pre-drilling and additional metalwork.

Winston Kilburn, Aptus’ sales manager, said the TRADA assessment gave potential users added reassurance that it was a viable alternative to more traditional nails, bolts and joist hangers.
